Our Story

Your hosts are Marcio and Tamy, along with Marcio's sister Tais and her husband Jonny, and hospitality runs in their veins. Born in Brazil to a family with deep Italian roots, Marcio grew up in his mother's kitchen, where generations of Italian culinary traditions had been lovingly preserved and passed down. There he learned that food is more than sustenance—it's love, family, and tradition. At just 16, he became a chef, following in her footsteps with a dream taking root in his heart.

In 2006, Marcio and Tamy made the bold move from Brazil to New Zealand, carrying with them these cherished Italian recipes and an unwavering commitment to quality. Five years later, in 2011, that dream became a reality when La Rosa opened its doors in Glen Eden. Since then, we've remained dedicated to our founding principles: fresh handmade pasta, the finest imported Italian ingredients, and warm hospitality that makes every guest feel like family.

Marcio and Tais grew up understanding that family is everything—and La Rosa truly embodies this spirit. When Tais and her husband Jonny joined the business, they brought their own passion and dedication to what has become a true family affair.
